Millions of people around the globe choose to immigrate to Canada for various reasons i.e., setting up of business, study, permanent settlement etc. Now, one may hate it as much, but, like in most parts of the world, for Indian Citizen to enter Canada, a Visa is required. But, here’s some relief – Canadian Express Entry Visa. A reformative step was taken by the government of Canada to encourage Skilled Worker (and speed up brain drain), to come to Canada and be the part of the development of Canada (which is what a government is supposed to do).
Immigration Under Express Entry For Skilled Foreign Workers
It is pertinent to mention here that since January 1, 2015, the “Express Entry” system has been launched by the Canadian Government to fast-track certain categories of immigration. Under this system, the skilled foreign workers can apply for a Permanent Residency visa. Mark the words “SKILLED FOREIGN WORKERS”. The Express Entry is a measure to speed up the process of selecting and approving the qualified skilled foreign workers. The Express Entry also covers the Provincial Nominees Program (PNP).
Different types of Visas are provided under express entry to meet different criteria in which individual applications are made.
There are three types of visas which are commonly recommended for Express Entry Canadian Visa:
-
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP):
In 2013, the Canadian Government started an immigration program via the Express Entry system which offered a Permanent Residence to the people who are qualified in different trades. The occupations included in this category are for people who work as mechanics, plumbers, electricians, crane, operators, welders, and construction workers etc. to qualify under this category a person must have at least two years of experience and must have an acceptable knowledge of English or French.
-
Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP):
In immigration, under this category, the applicants are evaluated based on their education, work experience, knowledge of the languages and age. The persons qualifying under this category are granted Permanent Residency if selected. The applicants are required to score 67 points out of 100 in a grid score to qualify in this category. Since the application is for the skilled worker category, the profession of the applicant must be included in the list of the professions which are acceptable. Some of the professions included in this category are accountants, engineers, financial analysts, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, computer programmers, university professors, legal professionals etc.
-
Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP):
Some of the Provinces in Canada open their Provinces to the immigration of skilled/ semi-skilled professionals as per their own requirements for these professionals. The main object of the provinces is to invite professionals who can come to their respective Provinces and contribute to the economy. Applicants who do not qualify for a Federal Skilled Worker Visa may apply under this category for their Permanent Residency Visa. The Provincial visas are issued for the specific Province in Canada which the applicants have applied for. Essentially, the Applicant has to live and work for at least 2 years in their chosen Province for which visa has been issued for.
