After a video of policemen hitting an auto driver and two women with long plastic pipes, two police officials were “line attached” as punishment. The incident was reported in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

“The Chhaigaon Makhan police station in-charge and a constable were ”line attached” in connection with this incident,” Khandwa Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said.

Line attached is when a police official is taken off field duty and deployed in the police line as a form of punishment.

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Lalit Gathre assured that a probe will be conducted into the matter.

As per the reports, the incident took place following a dispute between a team of health workers and the family of a Covid-19 patient.

A police official told that a police team reached Sirsod Banjari village under Chhaigaon Makhan police station area after receiving a complaint about an attack on the team of health workers following an altercation between them and a 20-year old Covid-19 patient’s family.

Following the incident, health workers filed an FIR.

“After the health workers complained about being attacked by the patient’s family, a police team arrived at the village. They too were attacked and a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector got injured along with two health workers,” Chhaigaon Makhan police station in-charge G Kanail said.

As per the health workers, a 20-year old man tested positive on Sunday and a team went to his house to take him to the hospital. But the family of the patient insisted on his home quarantine. After a long altercation, the family of the patient allegedly attacked the health officials.
