An FIR has been registered against five policemen and two unidentified men for torturing a man brutally in the custody under the suspicion of the victim being involved in the cattle slaughtering case in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh.

The seven people include in-charge of a police outpost, four constables and two unidentified men. Considering the medical report of the victim, the cops have found all the allegations to be true. SSP OP Singh has directed the CO of Dataganj, Prem Kumar Thapa to investigate the matter.

The accused have been booked under Section 342 (wrongful confinement) and Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.

22-year-old victim who is a vegetable vendor by profession and resides in the Kakrala area under the limits of Alapur police station was picked by police on May 2 under the suspicion of his involvement in a cow slaughtering case.

The mother of the victim named a policeman and alleged, “The police shoved a stick inside my son’s rectum and gave him repeated electric shocks.

Police thrashed my brother-in-law the whole night. After realising that they had picked the wrong person, they handed him Rs 100 and sent him back after torturing him for two straight days. Since then, he has been getting seizures almost every day. On Friday (June 3) his condition deteriorated and we had to rush him to the hospital,” alleged the victim’s sister-in-law.

The doctors have also confirmed it as barbaric torture while stating, “The patient is getting seizures regularly which means that his nervous system has been affected, possibly because of a shock.”
