Haryana BJP leader, Sonali Phogat, also a renowned TikTok star, got bail on Thursday who was arrested along with her 5 companions yesterday. She was arrested in context to a viral video in which she can be seen thrashing and hitting a secretary in the Balsamand Grain market in the Hisar region of Haryana.
Haryana police have produced Sonali Phogat and the 5 other accused before the Hisar court after which they have been granted bail om the bonds of Rs 30,000. Among them 6, only Sonali Phogat and Sudhir were released on bail. While the other 4 including Ashish, Subhash, Ravi, and Amit were unable to produce the bail papers and therefore, were sent to the judicial custody.
The charge sheet has already been submitted by the police and Hisar court has listed the matter for hearing on July 1.
The action against the leader and her companions were followed by the warning of Binain Khap in Sacha Khera village of Jind district. They had intimidated that if no action was taken against the culprits till June 22, they are going to launch an agitation against the Haryana government.
Under the complaint of the public officer Sultan Singh, police have registered a complaint against Sonali Phogat and other 5 under the IPC Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (hurting public servant to deter him from duty), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
She had accused Sultan Singh of using derogatory language while she visited the grain market in Balsamand and filed a complaint against him.
On June 5, a video went viral over various social media platforms in which BJP leader Sonali Phogat can be seen assaulting and beating grain market secretary Sultan Singh with a slipper.
