Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Ayodhya’s Gosaiganj seat, Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari, has been disqualified from the membership of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly after a special court convicted him of using a fake mark sheet.
The MLA has been held guilty in a 28-year old case in which he used a fake mark sheet to get admission to the college.
As per the notification issued by Vidhan Sabha principal secretary Pradeep Kumar Dubey, the Gosaiganj seat will be considered vacated from October 18, 2021.
He was convicted by Special Judge Puja Singh of MP/MLA court Ayodhya on October 18 this year. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 on him.
Yaduvansh Ram Tripathi, the then Principal of Saket Degree College in Ayodhya had filed a case against Tiwari at Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station in 1992.
