A Delhi Court today has sought response from the Tihar jail authorities on a plea filed by one of the death rows convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape case, Vinay Sharma, seeking high-level treatment for his claimed mental illness, schizophrenia, and injuries.
The bench headed by Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana while hearing the plea filed by Vinay Sharma directed the prison authorities to file its response. However, as per the prison officials, Vinay injured himself by banging his head against a wall of his cell on Sunday afternoon, in the Tihar jail. Subsequently, he was treated inside the prison premises.
Earlier, on 17 February, the court issued fresh death warrants to all the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape case, which has been scheduled for 3 March at 6 AM.
