Following a huge intense social media word war between the supporters and critics of farmers’ protests in the last two days, Delhi police on Thursday lodged an FIR against unnamed persons who are the “creators of toolkit” that was shared by Greta Thunberg in a tweet.
It was reported that Delhi police is going to write to search engine giant Google to trace the IP addresses or the location from which the doc was created and uploaded.
Special Commissioner of Police (CP) Praveer Ranjan stated that a case has been registered for spreading disaffection against the government and the matter is under investigation.
The FIR cited the document that was shared by Sweden’s teen environmentalist, Greta Thunberg alleging it to be a toolkit for mobilizing global protests against India’s controversial agricultural laws. Greta Thunberg was alleged of participating in a criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity.
“Sections in FIR are 124 A IPC — spreading disaffection against the government of India, it’s regarding sedition, 153 A — promoting hatred amongst various communities on social/ cultural/ religious grounds, same is 153 and 120 B for criminal conspiracy to give shape to such a plan,” said CP Ranjan.
In the last two days, many national and international celebrities spoke on the ongoing farmers’ protest. The wave started with a tweet from pop superstar Rihanna which said, “why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest.”

Moments later, the globally known teen environmentalist Greta Thunberg came in support of farmers and tweeted, “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.”

It was her second tweet in connection to the farmers’ protests that led to a huge social media war. “Here’s an updated toolkit by people on the ground in India if you want to help. (They removed their previous document as it was outdated.) #StandWithFarmers #FarmersProtest,” tweeted Thunberg.

She shared a google document which was later deleted. Delhi police filed an FIR on Thursday and have been investigating the matter to identify the creators of that toolkit.
Taking note of the Delhi police action, Greta Thunberg doubled her support and tweeted, “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest.

Meanwhile, CP Ranjana clarified during a press conference, “We haven’t named anybody in the FIR, it’s only against the creators of toolkit which is a matter of investigation & Delhi Police will be investigating that case.”

Taking note of the tweets which drew the world attention to the largest protest of history, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the tweets and stated, “It is unfortunate to see vested interest groups trying to enforce their agenda on the protests and derail them.”
Following the outrage and talks around the world, many celebrities, politicians, sportspersons, and other influencers wrote to Twitter.
