Following a series of encounters that happened in the past few days in Kanpur encounter case, a gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has urged Chandigarh district court with a petition to handcuff him when brought to court or any other place. He is currently lodged in the Bharatpur jail in Rajasthan from past two years.

Chandigarh district court has issued a notice and sought a reply from the Chandigarh police till July 13.

His petition is filed before ADJ Rajesh Sharma pleading for an anticipatory bail or 15 days advance notice to arrest and produce him in the court. He stated in his petition that he has been falsely accused in two FIRs.

Two FIRs were registered against Bishnoi in context to the open firing in Sector 33 and Sector 9D of Chandigarh in the month of June. As per the sources, 5 people had opened fire at the Rakesh Singla’s house. He is the brother of well-established liquor contractor Arvind Singla. Then, on June 2, 2 people opened fire at a wine shop in Sector 9D Chandigarh and injured four people.

Advocate Terminder Singh appearing for Bishnoi has stated that there is no connection between the accused and the arrested persons in the concerned cases.

The petition has alleged the investigating agencies to be involved in accusing Bishnoi in false cases so that he cannot come out of jail. It also stated that the UT police want to highlight his matter and earn fame and appreciation by doing so.

Bishnoi’s petition mentioned that as he is accused in the false case, the investigation officer will procure the production warrant from without disclosing the facts and while producing him before the Court, on the way, the petitioner (Bishnoi) will be killed in a fake encounter by police, over the false narrative that he had tried to abscond from custody. Therefore, his counsel has asked the court to handcuff him and provide the full security to Lawrence while the police will bring him to the court or any other place.

35-year-old gangster has been in jail for the last two years. Many cases are registered against him in Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Punjab.

The fear came from the encounter of most wanted gangster Vikas Dubey and his aides who had killed 8 cops in an open firing in Kanpur. UP police stated that he was killed in an encounter on Friday while trying to escape.
