Karnataka District and Taluk courts have revised their working hours by extra 30 minutes every day, with effect from 1 January 2020. A notification in this regard was issued on 30 December, by the Registrar-General of the Karnataka High Court given the Full Court resolution, dated 18 December 2019.
As per the notification, the revised court sitting hours of the first session will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a lunch till 2.45 p.m. The second session will be from 2.45 p.m. to 5.45 p.m., instead of the existing timings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. with lunch from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Subsequently, the revised working hours for the court’s staff of districts and taluks will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a lunch break from 2 p.m. to 2.45 p.m.
Further, the fourth Saturday of every month will be a non-sitting day, while for the court staff it shall be a half-day. The Judicial Officers shall utilize every fourth Saturday for purpose of inspection of courts and jail visits instead of third Saturdays.
