One of the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, Pawan Gupta has on 11 March moved Delhi Court, seeking registration of FIR against two police personnel for allegedly physically assaulting him in Mandoli jail in July 2019.
The court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Karkardooma has reportedly fixed Pawan’s complaint for hearing on 12 March at 2 PM, stated his counsel A P Singh. The complaint has alleged that Pawan was badly beaten up by the two constables on July 26 and 29, 2019 when he was lodged in the Mandoli central jail in East Delhi. Pawan claimed that he was treated at Guru Teg Bahadur government hospital in Shahdara for his alleged head injury and had also received 14 stitches.
The complaint sought for a direction to the Station house officer of Harsh Vihar Police Station to register an FIR against constable Anil Kumar and another unidentified police constable.
Earlier, on 5 March, another Delhi court presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana had issued fresh black warrants for the execution of the four death row convicts Mukesh, Pawan, Vinay, and Akshay on 20 March at 5.30 AM.
