On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation asking the Ukraine military to lay down its arms.

After several explosions heard in Kyiv and Eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that its military bases are under attack and has declared martial law in the country.

Putin has also warned other countries that any attempt to interfere with the Russian action would lead to “consequences they have never seen”.

Martial law involves a suspension of normal civil rights and imposition of military control over the country’s functioning.

Putin has massed between 150,000 and 200,000 troops along the borders of Ukraine.
