Producer Sandeep Kumar Singh who is allegedly a close friend of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput has filed a defamation suit against Arnab Goswami and Republic TV, demanding Rs 200 crores for allegedly maligning his image in public, and terming him as a ‘key conspirator’ and ‘murderer’.

As per reports, Sandeep has sent a legal notice through Advocate Rajesh Kumar of R&R Law Associates wherein he had demanded Arnab and Republic TV to delete and remove all the ‘malicious footage and articles’ against him telecasted/published by the channel. He further claimed on his social media that the news channel has sent several messages to him with ‘criminal intent’ and intent to extort, thus, sought an unconditional apology in writing/video for Arnab’s ‘vexatious and frivolous’ allegations.

Sandeep alleged that one of the officials from the news channel had got in touch with him and had told him that unless he agrees to ‘financially benefit the channel’, the news will be aired against him. Therefore, the legal notice stated that this was ‘proven to be correct’, as the channel carried on making slanderous reports against Sandeep.

While citing to various instances wherein the Republic TV has allegedly maligned Sandeep, the legal notice states “The above statements, debates, programs, news articles carried on your TV channel and digital platforms amount to defamation both civil and criminal under section 499 of the Indian Penal Code punishable under section 500 of the Code.”

Further, Sandeep raised an objection to the Republic TV’s statement that he wanted to ‘run away to the UK’ to escape investigation and alleged that between 22nd August to 24th August, the Republic TV correspondents have tried to enter his residence and harassed ‘security guards’ and ‘domestic helpers’, defaming him furthermore.

“The channel has been falsely imputing my client in TV debates, programs, social media platforms almost every day without any cogent evidence and intentionally interfering in the investigation carried out by the investigations agencies such as CBI and Mumbai Police,” read the notice.
