Home » News » SC Seeks Status Report from Delhi and Three Other States on Steps Taken to Curb Worsening Covid-19 Situation


Supreme Court on Monday has sought a status report from the four states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Assam explaining what steps are taken to curb the pandemic. The court observed that the Covid situation has worsened in Gujarat and Delhi.

“Things have worsened in Delhi especially in November. You file a status report on what steps have been taken,” said the apex court bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan.

The bench also comprising of Justice R S Reddy and Justice M R Shah, noted that the situation is going out of control in Gujarat. The court further said that centre and all the states should come together and efforts shall be made to mitigate the situation and deal with the increasing Covid-19 cases in the country.

Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain was appearing for the Delhi government.

The court took cognizance of the improper treatment of Covid-19 patients and the dignified handling of bodies in hospitals. The top court has posted the matter for hearing on November 27.
