A 17-year old girl from Pandharpur, Maharashtra ended her life on December 7 after being harassed by three men. The deceased was an Indian army aspirant and apologized to the nation in the suicide note.
“We have arrested all three persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” said senior inspector Prashant Bhasme of Pandharpur rural police station.
The teen hanged herself on December 7 at her home in the Pandharpur town in Pune, Maharashtra. She left a suicide note which was discovered after three days of her death in her notebook. She had accused three men of harassing her and after being fed up with constant teasing, the girl ended her life.
In the suicide note, the girl had apologized to the nation and wrote, “Sorry Bharat Mata”. “In the note, the girl wrote that her dream of donning the Army uniform and tri-colour badge would not come true as she was going to commit suicide due to the constant teasing by three accused,” said Senior Inspector Prashant Bhasme.
The officer further stated, “As per the suicide note, one of the accused had held the deceased’s hand and had threatened her not speak about it. In the note, the girl alleged that the three accused used to pass remarks at her, due to which she felt harassed.”
