The Delhi Commission for Women on Monday took suo-moto cognizance of a group called ‘Bois Locker Room’, an Instagram chat group where objectionable comments were made about minor girls. The DCW stated that at many occasions the group was used for sharing objectionable photos of minor girls and young women along with their personal information.

“Members of the group have been reported to have discussed techniques of raping women and gang-raping minors. Several other illegal acts and comments have been made on the group,” added DCW.

After leaked screenshots of lurid discussions from the group surfaced recently, which revealed that the group members who were reportedly Delhi Schoolboys were sharing private photos of underage girls, sexualizing them and planning to rape minor girls, the DCW issued notice to the social media platform Instagram and Delhi Police. Further, DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal highlighted the seriousness of the matter as several illegal activities are supposedly being carried out in an open media platform.

Further, the Commission instituted an inquiry into the matter and has sought details from Instagram and the Delhi Police. The police have also been asked if any accused has been identified and arrested. “If yes, please provide the details of the accused identified and arrested. If not, please provide the reasons for the same,” it said, further seeking a detailed action taken report in the matter by 8th May 2020.
