Supreme Court on Friday, extends the time by six months to the three-membered inquiry commission headed by former Supreme Court Justice V S Sirpurkar appointed in the Hyderabad encounter probe after brutal rape and murder of veterinarian.

Top court bench headed by Chief Justice of India, S A Bobde has accepted the request filed by inquiry committee seeking an extension by six more months to submit its final report in context to the Telangana, Hyderabad encounter probe.

On December 16, 2019, the Supreme Court had appointed a three-member inquiry committee to probe the killing of four accused in the Telanagana rape and murder case in an encounter.

The bench directed the inquiry commission which also comprises former Bombay High Court judge Rekha Sondur Baldota and ex-CBI director D R Karthikeyan, to submit its final report within the next six months.

An incident of brutal rape and murder of a 28-year-old vet on November 28, 2019, has left everyone shocked and invited outrage across the world seeking strict and immediate action against the four accused. Her body was found charred under a bridge in Telangana, Hyderabad.

Then, to recreate the scene, the police took the four accused to the crime spot and they were encountered there. Cyberabad police claimed that the accused tried to snatch the weapons and escape from the custody.
