Home » News » Supreme Court Recommends 11 New Names for Appointment of Judges in Allahabad, Kerala, Gujarat HCs


Supreme Court collegium on August 14, has recommended 11 new names comprising of advocates and judicial officers for the appointment of judges in the High Courts of Allahabad, Gujarat, and Kerala.

The central government has to clear all the 11 recommendations by the SC collegium.

Supreme Court collegium has recommended three names for Gujarat High Court, while four names each are recommended for the High Courts of Allahabad and Kerala.

SC collegium has recommended Subhash Chandra Sharma, Subhash Chand, Sanjay Kumar Pachori, and Saroj Yadav for Allahabad High Court. The sanctioned judges strength for Allahabad HC is 161 and is currently functioning with 99 judges.

Three advocates, Vaibhavi Devang Nanavati, Nirzarkumar Sushilkumar Desai, and Nikhil Shreedharan Kariel have been recommended for Gujarat High Court judges. The sanctioned strength for the Gujarat High Court is 52 and is currently functioning with 27 judges.

Murali Purushothaman, Ziyad Rahman AA, Karunakaran Babu and Dr. Kauser Edappagath are the recommendations for Kerala High Court.

The SC collegium for the appointment of High Court judges comprises of CJI and first two senior-most judges. The following collegium comprises of CJI SA Bobde and Justices N V Ramana and Arun Mishra.
