In a raid conducted in Dragonfly club situated in Hotel JW Marriot in Andheri at around 2.30 am on Tuesday, Mumbai Police has booked 34 people under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, Bombay Police Act, and Epidemic Disease Act for flouting Covid-19 guidelines.

Mumbai police booked 34 people which reportedly includes cricketer Suresh Raina, singer Guru Randhawa, Sussane Khan, and others under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), Section 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code and provisions of NMDA.

“An offence has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing face mask,” said an official statement from the Mumbai police.

It was also speculated that rapper Badshah was also there at the party but managed to escape from the backdoor of the nightclub. All of them have been released on bail on the notice of CrPC 41(a)(1).

Earlier on Monday, the Maharashtra government announced a night curfew between 11 pm and 6 am in the different municipal areas from December 22, 2020, to January 5, 2021, in order to curb the increasing cases of Covid-19.

“A curfew between 11 pm and 6 am will be enforced in the financial capital till January 5, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner I S Chahal said at a press conference. Chahal said essential services like vegetable and milk supply will remain unaffected during the night curfew but more than five people can not assemble at a place during the seven- hour-long period,” said a government directive.
