In a bizarre incident, a litigant broke the computers and furniture in courtroom number 66 of Delhi’s Karkardooma court. Irked over delay in getting justice, the man tried to vent out his frustration in a filmy way by shouting actor Sunny Deol’s iconic dialogue ‘tareekh par tareekh’. He even smashed the dais of the judge.

Rakesh, a resident of Shastri Nagar in Delhi claimed that he had been visiting the Karkardooma court in connection to a case which is pending since 2016. He alleged that the court was only giving him dates for the hearing.

Rakesh was presented before the magistrate after a case was registered against him in Farshbazar police station.

He has been booked under

  • IPC Section 186 (voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions),
  • IPC Section 353 (assaults or uses criminal force to any person being a public servant),
  • IPC Section 427 (mischief), and
  • IPC Section 506 (criminal intimidation).Another Tareek Par Tareek Moment In Court

On Tuesday, Supreme Court judge Justice DY Chandrachud expressed his displeasure over seeking adjournment in a matter. “We are not a ‘tareekh pe tareekh’ court. We are a hearing court. So please argue. Your best point is an adjournment! I mean what’s this? It’s a matter of 2016!” said Justice Chandrachud.
