The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation on 22 January said that it will pay a compensation amount of around Rs 63,000 to passengers of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, as it was delayed by an hour.

Tejas Express, the second train run by IRCTC, which commenced commercial operations from 19 January, reached the Mumbai Central station around 1 hour and 30 minutes late, on Wednesday afternoon.

“The OHE (Overhead Equipment) on UP fast line between Dahisar and Bhayander did not hold power from 12.15 hrs due to a technical problem. It was restored between Dahisar- Mira Road at 12.30 hrs and between Mira Road and Bhayander at 13.35 hrs,” said a spokesperson of the Western Railway.

He added that until 3.30 pm at least eight suburban services were canceled.

The IRCTC spokesperson further asserted that since the train was delayed, around 630 out of 849 passengers, who traveled up to Mumbai Central will be given a compensation amount of Rs 100 each.
