Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma disclosed that in the course of the investigation, they identified a 40-year-old auto-rickshaw driver who had contact with the girl. Upon inspecting his auto-rickshaw, authorities discovered blood stains on the passenger seat. Additionally, the police are actively reviewing numerous CCTV recordings as part of their ongoing investigation into the matter and are questioning other suspects too.

A girl, aged around 12 years, was found bleeding on a street located under the Mahakal police station area in Ujjain on Monday [September 25]. She was taken to a hospital, where her initial medical examination confirmed that she had been raped,” said Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma.

The victim was rescued by a priest, Rahul Sharma who gave her clothes to cover her body and he called the police. Though the girl was trying to communicate, she could not as she was in critical condition.

The girl was in a critical condition and was subsequently referred to a government hospital in Indore. She is unable to talk properly and provide any details but a language expert said she might belong to Prayagraj,” SP Sharma said.

The medical professionals at the Ujjain hospital who treated the minor conveyed that it seemed she had experienced sexual assault approximately 24-36 hours before her admission to the hospital. Consequently, she underwent surgery to address severe injuries to her private area.

SP Sharma added that a case has been registered at Mahakal police station against unidentified people under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
