They were accompanied by two BJP leaders Mohit Kambhoj and Sanjay Kute and were shifted to Guwahati at 2am on Wednesday.
“We are shifting the MLAs to Guwahati for security reasons. Surat being very close to Mumbai may witness some backlash from angry Sena workers,” said a BJP leader from Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena leader and state Urban Development and Public Works Minister Eknath Shinde rebelled against the party bringing crisis to the MVA government. He took a dig at the Shiv Sena’s decision to join hands with NCP and Congress to form the Maha Vijas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
Shinde talked to the reporters for the very first time and said, “A total of 40 Shiv Sena MLAs are present here. We will carry Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva.”
“We have not left Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and will not leave it. We have been following Balasaheb’s Hindutva and will carry it further,” he said.
“33 Shiv Sena MLAs With Us, Figure Will Go Up To 50: Maharashtra Minister Bachchu Kadu
Prahar Janshakti Party head and one of the members of Shinde’s rebel group, Bachchu Kadu claimed that the figure of MLAs who would join them would go up to 50 in the next two-three days and they will form a separate group in the Assembly.
He said, “These include those from the Shiv Sena, Independents and the Congress party as well. Today, we will be holding a meeting and then deciding our future course of action.”
“I don’t have any personal issues… The MLAs had issues regarding the distribution of development funds. There was gross inequality in the distribution of development required by MLAs in their constituencies… The Shiv Sena MLAs felt neglected,” he added.
Another Sena leader, Sandeepan Bhumre said, “There are 35-36 MLAs in our group. We are all together under the leadership of Eknath Shinde. We will follow whatever decision he takes. Many people have called me, I told them that I was with Shinde saheb. We have accepted his leadership. We will remain with the Shiv Sena.”
Our main demand is that our work should be done, we should get development funds for our constituencies, he added.
In the house of 288, MVA is in need of at least 144 MLAs. Before the crisis, it has 152 with 55 Sena members, 53 NCP, and 44 Congress members in the House. BJP has 106 MLAs and others 29.
MLAs Kidnapped And Thrashed: Sanjay Raut
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut alleged that two MLAs, who were accompanying Eknath Shinde, were beaten up by the police and goons under BJP’s “operation Lotus”.
“Two of the MLAs (with Mr Shinde), including Nitin Deshmukh, were beaten up last night. Mr Deshmukh tried to run away but he was beaten up by the police and goondas under ‘Operational Kamal’ and suffered a heart attack. Some of the MLAs have told us that they were misled and taken to Gujarat,” he said.
He also stated that he knows that these MLAs are facing pressure from Central agencies and is aware of the “compulsions” on Mr. Shinde that might have prompted him to rebel against the party.
