A 26-year-old woman has alleged a man of rape and assault whom she met on the online dating app Tinder. A criminal complaint has been filed against the man in Wakad police station.
The man identified as Abhijit Wagh was arrested on Monday and the incident took place on December 26 in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district. The man allegedly raped and assaulted the girl who is an air hostess by profession. The boy is said to be unemployed.
As per the police reports, they both met each other on the famous online dating app Tinder on December 25 and decided to meet each other.
As per the victim statement, she had gone on a dinner date with the Wagh on December 26 where he forced her to drink alcohol. She resisted and then he insisted on dropping her home.
The accused then allegedly took the woman to his home. He forced himself on her and when she resisted, he hit her with hands, legs, and shoes and raped her.
The accused has been booked under Section 376, Section 376(2) (m), Section 325, Section 328, Section 366, Section 385, and Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
“We produced the accused before a court. The court has remanded him in police custody till January 2 for further investigation,” Senior police inspector Vivek Muglikar of Wakad police said.
