“Baba ka Dhaba” owner Kanta Das has filed a complaint against Youtuber and Instagram influencer Gaurav Wasan who had shared their video on the internet. The couple has alleged Wasan of cheating, mischief, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy.
Social media played its magic when Youtuber and Instagram influencer Gaurav Wasan shared the story of a struggling aged couple who used to run a Dhaba with the name “Baba ka Dhaba”. The couple enjoyed overnight fame and received a lot of support and donations from across the country. They admitted that they are flooded with so many customers than it had ever seen in their 30 years business journey at “Baba ka Dhaba”.
In the complaint filed, Kanta Das and his wife Badami Devi alleges that Gaurav Wasan has used their videos to get donations from the social media community and has misappropriated those funds. The couple has alleged that Wasan only shared his and his family members’ account details for receiving donations, which the “Baba ka Dhaba” owners were unaware of.
Kanta Das also alleges, “Wasan intentionally and deliberately shared only his and his family/friends bank details and mobile numbers with the donors and collected huge amount of donation through different mode of payments i.e bank account/wallets without providing any information to the complainant.”
“We received the complaint yesterday at the Malviya Nagar Police Station and the matter is being probed. No FIR has been registered yet in the case,” said Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
However, Wasan has denied all the allegations through a video in which he has shared the details about his bank statement. He claimed that he had collected over Rs 2.3 lakh in the donations and has transferred all the money to Prasad’s account.
