On Wednesday, the Cyber Crime cell of Delhi police arrested the admin of Bois Locker Room, the Instagram private chat group, where schoolboys planned gangrape and made derogatory remarks on girls. As per reports, so far 27 members of the group were identified of which some were underage and some 18 and older.
Members of the chat group shared pictures of underage girls and objectified with the most degrading and derogatory remarks. The content on the group included a group of boys planning to gang-rape a classmate and several photos of schoolgirls that were accompanied by texts objectifying them. Also, there were copies of photos posted by girls on Instagram that were appended with lewd and violent remarks.
Further, the cybercrime unit has also asked for information about the group and its members from Instagram which is still awaited. Earlier, a juvenile group member was apprehended in the case on 4th May. On Tuesday, another 15-year-old boy from a prominent school of South Delhi was also apprehended by the Cyber Cell in connection with the incident.
A case was registered under section 465 (forgery), 471 (using the forged document), 469 (Forgery for purpose of harming reputation), 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code and 67 and 67A of the Information Technology (IT) Act at the cyber cell of Delhi Police.
The incident came to light after the conversations were exposed by one of the boys in the group who took screenshots and passed it on to someone else, before it was posted on social media by one of the girls who was targeted, said an officer.
“Once the screenshots emerged in the public domain, the group was deleted and another one created. Some girls were added in the new group to mislead police,” said an investigator.
