On Wednesday, the Centre told the Supreme Court that the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput death case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the transfer of investigation was recommended by the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar which has been accepted by the Centre. On the other hand, the governor of Bihar, Phagu Chauhan has also favored for a CBI probe into the alleged suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput.

“The Governor of Bihar is pleased to accord his consent to exercise of powers and jurisdiction to the whole of Bihar and other places related to the case to the members of Delhi Special Police Establishment to Investigative and enquire into the case related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput,” read the notification issued by the Bihar government.

Further, the governor of Bihar also suggested that the CBI should investigate, supervise and inquire into the FIR registered in Patna by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh, wherein he alleged SSR’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of instigating Sushant Singh Rajput to commit suicide

On the other hand, the Apex Court criticized the Mumbai Police for placing a senior officer of the Bihar Police in quarantine after he reached Mumbai with regards to the investigation into the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

“It did not send the right signal,” stated the single judge bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Hrishikesh Roy. The bench further pulled up the Mumbai Police while citing that they must behave in a professional manner.

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father released a video stating that his family has earlier on 25 February informed Mumbai Police that Sushant’s life was in danger. He also released WhatsApp chats sent to Mumbai Police informing that the actor’s life was in danger.

However, countering these allegations, the Mumbai Police released a statement clarifying that no written complaint was filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, in February 2020.
