After withdrawing the petition from Supreme Court, Centre has moved Delhi High Court with a petition seeking review of its June 30 order to publish the draft Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution in all the 22 languages.

A division bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan has issued a notice to the environment conservationist Vikrant Tongad and has asked him to submit his reply by September 23.

Delhi High Court, in its June 30 verdict, has directed that the notification of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) be published in 22 languages within the 10 days of the order.

The court has also extended the date of submitting comments and objections to the draft EIA during its June 30 order till August 11. The order was given after an environmentalist Vikrant Tongad filed a petition seeking directions to publish the draft EIA in 22 languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Centre has challenged the Delhi High Court order in Supreme Court. However, the plea was withdrawn by the Centre after SC directed it to seek a review of the decision in Delhi High Court first.

Besides giving Centre liberty to approach the High Court, the court has also put on hold any contempt proceedings against the government until it files a review petition.
