Taking note of the plea filed by Actress Rakul Preet Singh, Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Information and Broadcast Ministry, Press Council of India, and Prasar Bharati. The actress has moved High Court on Thursday morning alleging media trial in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

“It is hoped that media houses would show restraint in their reports and would abide by the cable TV regulations, program code and various guidelines, statutory and self-regulatory while making any reports with regard to the petitioner. Even if action is taken against one channel, it will send a message to others,” said High Court.

The court has also sought the Centre’s response and asked to treat Rakul Preet’s plea as a representation and take an expeditious decision accordingly before the next date of hearing on October 15.

Rakul Preet mentioned that she learnt about her name being included in the drug racket case only from the TV channels. As per the sources, during the Narcotics Control Bureau probe into the drug angle exposed in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the prime accused Rhea Chakraborty has named few other persons from the industry including Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan, among others.

Advocate Aman Hingorani appearing for Rakul Preet claimed before the court that Rhea had already retracted her statement of naming Rakul Preet in the Bollywood drug racket case.

Meanwhile replying to the order, Centre has stated that so that Rakul Preet has not filed any complaint under the Cable TV Act, so they cannot pass any order related to censorship as of now.

The whole mysteries are exposed during the probe into late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. Three agencies including CBI, ED, and NCB has been investigating the matter and recently a drug angle has been disclosed in the probe.

Till now, 16 people have been arrested including Sushant’s ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty, SSR’s household staff, Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant, and six alleged drug peddlers.
