Two days after the Farmers’ Tractor Rally violence, Delhi police has issued a lookout notice against farmer leaders who were named in the multiple FIRs registered in connection to the clashes that took place between security forces and protesting farmers.
Their passports will also be seized as part of the process.
The farmer leaders have been questioned why action should not be taken against them when they have gone against their agreement with the Delhi police and were in talks with them for several days.
“You are also directed to provide names of the perpetrators of such violent acts belonging to your organization,” the notice said. The leaders have been asked to submit their response within three days.
25 FIRs have been registered so far in connection to the Tractor Parade violence where 394 policemen got injured. Over 37 farmer leaders are named in the FIRs.
“FIR by Delhi Police mentions the names of farmer leaders Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil, and Joginder Singh Ugraha for breach of NOC issued regarding farmers’ tractor rally. FIR also mentions the name of BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait,” said an official statement on Wednesday.
The FIRs by Delhi police charge the leaders for breach of the No Objection Certificate issued in connection to the tractor rally.
On Wednesday, Delhi police alleged that the protesting farmers violated the pre-decided conditions agreed upon for the Tractor Parade on Republic Day and they also made inflammatory speeches which led to violence leaving 394 police personnel injured.
“We are using the facial recognition system and taking the help of CCTV and video footage to identify the accused. No culprit will be spared,” said the Delhi Commissioner. ‘
Meanwhile, on Wednesday afternoon, two farm unions, Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan and the Bharatiya Kisan Union’s Bhanu announced that they have decided to withdraw from the farmers’ protests in view of the Kisan Tractor Rally violence of January 26.
“I can’t carry forward protest with someone whose direction is different. I wish them best but Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan is withdrawing from the protest. We have not come here to get people martyred or beaten up,” said RKMS Chief, VM Singh.
