Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Delhi police over an appeal filed by Pinjra Tod Activists, Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal against the orders rejecting their bail petitions in connection to the Delhi riots wherein they were arrested under UAPA.

The appeal was heard by Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Anup J Bhambhani. The matter has been adjourned till March 10.

The two Pinjra Tod activists, Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal were denied bail in January by the Additional Sessions Judge in Karkardooma court. It was observed that there were reasonable grounds to believe that the accusations against them were prima facie true.

Kalita was booked in connection to her alleged involvement in the premeditated conspiracy behind the Delhi riots. She has been lodged in Tihar jail along with another JNU student Natasha Narwal. Natasha Narwal was arrested by Delhi police on May 23, 2020, in connection to the CAA protests in Delhi’s Jafrabad.
