Class 10 students of a school in Karnataka’s Davanagere crossed all the limits in a shameful act where they manhandled an elderly Hindi teacher while he was teaching. The incident came to light after a disturbing video of the incident went viral.

The video invited severe condemnation and outrage among the netizens demanding strict action against the miscreants.

The teacher is identified as Prakash Bogar who was a Hindi teacher in Nalluru Government High school in Channagiri taluk of Davanagere district of Karnataka.

In the video, a group of students can be seen putting a dustbin on the head of the teacher while he was teaching. Prakash calmly removed the dustbin and continued to teach.

They teased him, hit him, ran away and also made videos of the same. While he was writing on the blackboard, they started pulling his clothes. One student can be seen threatening to hit the teacher with a dustbin.

Following the incident, local MLA Madal Virupakshappa visited the school and asked the students to apologize and touch the teacher’s feet.

“The heckling and assault on a teacher by some students at the high school in Davanagere’s Channagiri taluk is condemnable. Such incidents cannot be tolerated. Regarding this, the Education Department officials and police are investigating. They have been asked to take appropriate action. The Education Department will always be with teachers,” tweeted Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh.

On December 11, four boys were booked for assaulting the teacher who has some health problems.

However, the teacher has decided not to lodge a complaint against the students and has forgiven them. “Please forgive those students, don’t file any case against them or dismiss them from classes. The children were still young and had made a mistake. There is no need to hand them over to the police or dismiss them from class. This is a lesson for them and they will be better,” said Prakash.

Deepak Bogar, the son of the victim, stated, “My father is very disturbed by this incident and is not in a position to speak to anyone. Authorities should ensure such incidents are not repeated.”
