On Friday, Telangana High Court has directed the Jangaon Collector and revenue officials not to plant trees in the tribal lands from where petitioners were allegedly removed.
Under the part of the Palle Pragathi programme, the tribals were removed from the land for the establishment of Prakruti Vanam (Eco Park). So they have moved the Telangana High Court.
Justice A Abhishek Reddy has passed the interim orders stating, “don’t plant trees on tribal lands”.
Nenavath Dholi and 19 other tribals have moved a lunch motion before Telangana High Court in which they alleged that revenue officials and police officials have coercively removed them from those tribal lands where they used to live. These housing sites were granted by way of pattas in 1998 at Yerragollapahad village in Jangaon district (erstwhile Warangal district).
Taking a serious note of the tribal concerns, the court has directed the state government to file a counter-affidavit and has listed the matter for August 31.
