“We have lodged four different cases in connection with the incident,” stated Dinesh Kumar, West Midnapore SP.

The police has booked Sayantan Basu under the IPC sections 505 (Public mischief, 506(Criminal intimidation), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) for an inflammatory speech.

Another FIR was lodged in Kotwali police station for arranging and being a part of an unauthorized gathering with a dead body amid COVID-19 lockdown situations.

Trinamool Congress leader has alleged,” BJP speaks the language of terror. They kept a dead body before them to create an atmosphere of unrest in otherwise peaceful Datan. Why only Sayantan Basu, a case has been filed against all the BJP leaders trying to trigger unrest here.”
