Adding another dramatic incident to the history of the Indian wedding, a groom was sued by his friends for ditching them and leaving with the baraat earlier than the scheduled time. The lawsuit seeks Rs 50 lakh in damages.
Ravi, the groom who is from Bahadurabad village of Haridwar district, has been sued by his own friends after he left them behind. They considered it an attack on their dignity.
Ravi submitted that he took the help of his friend Chandershekhar to distribute the wedding cards on his behalf. As per the invitation card, the wedding procession was supposed to leave at around 5.
All the friends including Chandershekhar reached the groom’s house but were left disappointed after knowing that the procession had already left. Groom’s reaction added more to their anger. The groom asked the friends to go back to their home because they were late.
All the friends sued Ravi for defamation and sought Rs 50 lakh in damages. They have also demanded a public apology.
