On the second consecutive day of the monsoon session of the Parliament, 72-year-old veteran actress-politician Jaya Bachchan has issued a zero hour notice in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday morning. She came down heavily on the actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan for tarnishing the image of the film industry in context to the drug racket case.
She stated that the image of the entire film industry cannot be tarnished just because of some people. Without mentioning any name, Jaya Bachchan said, “I am ashamed that yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the film industry, spoke against it.”
“Just because there are some people, you cannot tarnish the image of the entire industry. I am ashamed that yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the film industry, spoke against it. It is a shame,” added Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan.
Referring to the remarks made by actor and BJP leader Ravi Kishan on the first day of Parliament’s monsoon session, Jaya Bachchan slammed, “People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language.”
Jaya Bachchan has issued a zero hour notice in Rajya Sabha against the alleged conspiracy to defame the film industry. MPs can give zero hour notice to raise the issues of critical importance in which assent of the speaker is mandatory.
Jaya Bachchan during the second day of the monsoon session said, “The Government must stand by the entertainment industry because it always comes forward to help the government. They come and speak for them, support them if there is a national calamity, they come forward, give money, give their services. And I think it is very important that the government must support this industry and not kill it just because there are a few people, you can’t tarnish the image of the entire industry. This industry brings international name, and recognition also apart from the political people.”
She further added, “I was really embarrassed and ashamed yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry spoke against (I am not taking the name) the film industry. It is a shame ‘jis thali mein khate hai usi me chhed karte hai’, galat baat hai. I need the protection, this industry needs protection and support of the government.”
Replying to the action, Ravi Kishan clarified that not everyone in the industry consumes drugs but who do are part of a plan to finish the world’s largest film industry. “When Jaya ji and I joined, the situation was not like this but now we need to protect the industry,” said Ravi Kishan.
On the first day of Parliament’s monsoon session, BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan had raised the concern over the Bollywood drug nexus exposed during Sushant Singh Rajput’s death probe. He alleged that the conspiracy has been hatched by Pakistan and China in order to destroy the Indian youth.
Ravi Kishan also praised the work done by Narcotics Control Bureau and said, “Drug addiction is in film industry too. Several people have been apprehended, NCB is doing very good work. I urge the Central government to take strict action, apprehend the culprits soon, give them befitting punishment and bring an end to conspiracy of neighbouring countries.”
With every passing day, the Sushant Singh Rajput death probe is coming with new revelations. During the probe, the Bollywood drug racket is also exposed and NCB has arrested Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and four others. The investigation is still underway.
