On 24 February, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, has recommended the elevation of the recently appointed acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Justice BP Dharmadhikari as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
Justice Dharmadhikari was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of Bombay HC, following the retirement of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog.
Justice Bhushan Pradyumna Dharmadhikari was born on 28 April 1958 and has completed his law from Nagpur University (Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj University). After being enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra, he practiced as an advocate in Nagpur from 1980. He was then appointed as the Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on 15 March 2004 and later was elevated as Permanent Judge on 12 March 2006. Subsequently, on 24 February 2020, he was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.
Another judge, Justice Ranjit V More, of Bombay High Court, may soon leave the HC after the proposal of his transfer to Meghalaya High Court, was issued by the Supreme Court Collegium on 12 February.
