Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer has moved to the Bombay High Court against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) drive to demolish her office at Pali Hill in Bandra West alleging it to be an illegal construction. Subsequently, the court has ordered a stay on the demolition and sought BMC’s reply.
Yesterday, BMC had served a 24 hours notice at Kangana’s office in Bandra stating that the ongoing renovation and finishing work is ‘beyond the approved plan’.
To which Kangana’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiqui responded, “No work is being carried out by her in the premises as falsely understood by you, so the notice issued by you as ‘Stop Work Notice’ is absolutely bad-in-law and appears to have been issued only to intimidate her by misusing your dominant position.”
It was reported that BMC has listed 14 violations in the notice related to “illegal alterations” which include a toilet apparently built in space marked for a kitchen and an office set up in an area meant for a toilet.
Kangana has been active on Twitter and has criticized the BMC and Maharashtra government calling her office “Ram Mandir” and BMC officials the “Babur army”. “This is not just a building but Ram Mandir for me. Today history is repeating itself and Ram Mandir will be shattered into pieces. But do remember Babur, Ram Mandir will be constructed again, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Shri Ram,” tweeted Kangana.
“There is no illegal construction in my house, also the government has banned any demolitions in COVID till September 30, Bullywood watch now this is what Fascism looks like,” said Kangana in one of her tweets.
Padma Shri awardee actress also pointed out her previous tweet calling Mumbai a Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and tweeted, “I am never wrong and my enemies prove again and again this is why my Mumbai is POK now.”
But in the latest issued notice, BMC has called the allegations of Kangana’s lawyer baseless and said, “”After receipt of the notice, you continued the work…So, the notice structure as mentioned in the notice is liable for forthwith demolition at your risk, cost & consequences.”
Several officials on Wednesday morning have reached Palli Hill in Bandra and started their process to demolish the alleged illegal portion of the office. Kangana shared the pictures and videos of demolition and tweeted, “As I am all set for Mumbai Darshan on my way to the airport, Maharashtra government and their goons are at my property all set to illegally break it down, go on! I promised to give blood for Maharashtra pride this is nothing take everything but my spirit will only rise higher and higher.”
Kangana has been vocal after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She has opened up against various Bollywood biggies, Maharashtra government, and Mumbai police.
Kangana has urged for security for Centre or Himachal Pradesh government stating that she has been receiving death threats from Shiv Sena and its supporters. Centre has approved Y level security for Kangana.
The actress has left her hometown in Himachal Pradesh today and will reach Mumbai later in the evening. Following the exchange of caustic statements between Kangana and several politicians of the Maharashtra government, she had alleged that she is being targeted.
