On Tuesday, A POCSO court in Kota sentenced a 42-year-old Abdul Rahim to life in jail till his last breath for raping a 6-year-old girl in a madrassa in Kotsuwa village in November 2021. The court has also slapped a penalty of ₹ 1 lakh on him. The convict was a Maulavi and Urdu teacher.

While awarding the sentence, Judge Deepak Dubey penned an emotional poem which stated,

“ओ मेरी नन्ही मासूम परी रानी तुम खुश हो जाओ |

तुम्हें रूलाने वाले दुष्ट राक्षस को हमने जिंदगी की आखिरी सांस तक के लिए सलाखों के पीछे भेज दिया है |

अब तुम इस धरती पर निडर होकर अपने सपनों के खुले आसमान में पंख लगाकर उड़ सकती हो |

तुम सदा हंसती रहो, चहकती रहो, बस यही प्रयास है हमारा |

(O my little innocent fairy queen, you be happy, we have sent the evil demon who made you cry behind bars till the last breath of your life, now you fearlessly on this earth by spreading wings in the open sky of your dreams You can fly, you have always been laughing, this is our only effort).”

The girl had gone to the madrassa on November 13, 2021, to study Urdu, said public prosecutor Lalit Sharma. He added that the convict raped her when she was alone after everyone had left.

The girl reached home in the evening with screams and teary eyes. She narrated her ordeal when asked by her parents. The parents of the girl lodged a complaint against Maulavi on November 14, 2021.

Police registered a case against the maulvi for rape under Section 376 (3) of IPC and Section 5(f)(m)/6 and arrested the accused the same day, Lalit Sharma said.

The police filed the charge sheet within 22 days. Statements of over 13 witnesses were recorded and 23 documents were produced before the court.
