Telangana police has arrested the second accused in the Hyderabad gang-rape case. The arrested person is a juvenile and is allegedly the main accused in the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad.
Another accused identified as Saduddin Malik was arrested on Friday. Three of the five accused are minors. They are booked under Section 354, Section 323 of IPC apart from POCSO act.
A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped by five school going boys in an Innova car on May 28. She was returning home after attending a pub party in the Jubilee Hills area.
It was claimed that the party was a “non alcoholic” and “non-smoking” college fresher party. However, some media houses have reported that one of the victim’s friends had invited her there.
CCTV footage from outside the pub is getting viral where the teen survivor can be seen walking with the alleged attackers. After 5.30 pm, she left the party and went with the accused in a Mercedes Benz car after they allegedly offered her a lift. They went to a bakery in Banjara Hills and then they got shifted to an Innova car.
They took turns assaulting the teen victim whereas others were standing outside to guard. The father of the victim filed a complaint after he saw injury marks on the neck. Initially, the complaint include outraging the modesty charges but rape charges were added later.
“Her father approached us. According to whatever he told us we filed a case of outraging modesty and under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences). He was not sure what happened, the girl was not in a position to reveal anything,” said a police officer.
The girl talked about all the horror when women police officers interrogated her.
“She could not reveal identity of the accused. She only had one name. Based on footage and technical evidence, we are looking for the suspect,” police officer Joel Davis stated.
“At about 5.30 pm, she was taken out of the pub by a few guys in a car. Later, they misbehaved with my daughter and assaulted her, she has minor injuries on her neck. Since then, my daughter has been in deep shock and has been unable to disclose what happened exactly,” the father stated in the complaint.
All the accused involve sons or grandsons of politicians. BJP has claimed the involvement of an AIMIM legislator’s son which is denied by the police. The police stated that he left before the assault. He was picked up by his brother from the bakery as he had to see off his uncle flying to the US.
