Mumbai police has registered an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through her remarks against Prophet Mohammed during a live debate on Times Now news channel debate on the Gyanvapi mosque case.

Irfan Shaikh, Join Secretary of Raza Academy, has lodged an FIR against Nupur Sharma at the Pydhonie police station.

In the complaint, he mentioned that he received the Twitter video link via WhatsApp and stated that the derogatory words used against Prophet Mohammed and his wife by the BJP spokesperson hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims as they worship them.

Nupur Sharma has been booked under Section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings), Section 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) and Section 505(II) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code.

She alleged that she has been receiving rape, death, and beheading threats against her and her family. She shared the screenshots of the messages of threats and tagged Delhi Police Commissioner.
