Mumbai police on Tuesday summoned Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for the second time to appear before them following a sedition complaint against the two.

The blunt Kangana Ranaut is expected to appear on November 9, while Rangoli Chandel is asked to appear for investigation on November 10.

The state police had summoned the sisters earlier as well to appear on October 26- October 27. But they skipped the previous summon for which their lawyer had sought postponement of the summon date as bot the sisters are busy in their brother’s marriage. They are currently in Himachal Pradesh.

“Among the charges include Indian Penal Code Sec. 124-A (sedition)…besides spreading communal hatred and falsehoods. The police have already recorded the statement of the complainant, Munawwarali Sahil A. Sayyed in this connection last month, ” said lawyer Ravish Zamindar, appearing for Kangana and Rangoli.

A Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer, Munawwar Ali Sayyed, had accused the two sisters of defaming the entertainment industry, portraying people working in the industry in a bad light with claims of nepotism, drug addiction, communal bias, attempting to drive a wedge between artistes of different communities, calling them murderers, insulting religions, etc., on the social media and through public statements.

Following the complaint under sedition and spreading enmity among different community members, Mumbai police registered an FIR under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, etc), Section 295A (deliberate acts hurting religious sentiments) and Section 124-A (sedition), and Section 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code.
