Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel made remarks on Omar Abdullah linking his release from house arrest with the Rajasthan Political Crisis while citing that he will keep on questioning. However, Omar Abdullah has threatened to take legal action against such comments made by CM Bhagel while tweeting that “I am fed up with the downright malicious and false allegation that what Sachin Pilot is doing is somehow linked to my or my father’s release from detention earlier this year. Enough is enough. Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will be hearing from my lawyers”.
Omar Abdullah is the brother of Sara Abdullah, wife of Sachin Pilot. Omar was released after more than seven months of detention. A few days before, his father Farooq Abdullah was also released. The father-son duo was detained after the Centre decided to abrogate Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, that granted special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In an interview conducted by The Hindu, Mr. Bhagel said that Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah were booked under the same section. However, Mehbooba Mufti still remains under detention. He alleged that this is because Omar Abdullah has links with Sachin Pilot.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah considered this to be defamatory and stated that “The party unequivocally rejects such malicious, false and politically motivated statements that are used for convenient political posturing”. He further threatened to file a defamation case against Mr. Bhagel.
