Uttar Pradesh police have finally nabbed the main accused in the brutal gang-rape and murder of a middle-aged woman in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. Priest Satya Narayan was absconding right from the day of the incident and was nabbed in a late-night crackdown on Thursday.

District Magistrate Kumar Prashant told that Mahant (priest) Satya Narayan, who is the main accused in the case, was hiding in the house of one of his followers in a village under Ughaiti police station. The police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for telling the whereabouts of Satya Narayan.

Two accused who are the disciples of Satya Narayan were already arrested on Tuesday. On Sunday, a 50-year old woman was gang-raped and murdered. Her lungs were punctured, a rod was inserted in private parts, several ribs, and one legal was broken. The post-mortem report was submitted by three-panel doctors revealed that there was a huge body loss.

They drove to the deceased house and left the body there. It was also reported by some locals that they had also driven the woman to Chandausi for treatment.

She had gone to the nearby temple as per her daily routine and then didn’t return.

Badaun police chief, Sankalp Sharma had formed 4 teams to nab the Satya Narayan and had also suspended Ughaiti police station officer Ravendra Pratap Singh for being negligent in handling the case.

The family of the deceased claimed that police didn’t act on their complaint and the body was sent for a post-mortem after 18 hours.

On Monday, Satya Narayan had shared a video that the women had fallen into a well and all three of them had rescued her from the well.
