A video of a woman slapping a cab driver Sadahat Ali in Lucknow is doing rounds on the internet. The video led to furore and #arrestlucknowgirl is trending on Twitter. Netizens have been demanding an independent investigation into the assault case and seek legal action against the girl.
The girl identified as Priyadarshini Yadav alleged that the cab driver hit her while she was crossing the road. She has been criticised for taking law in her hands and continuously slapping the cab driver 22 times. She broke his phone and even the person who came to save the cab driver was assaulted. Everything happened in the presence of the police. What shocked everyone is that the action was taken against the cab driver and not the girl. The incident took place in Lucknow city’s Awadh.

Need To Set Up Men’s Commission
This added to the list of several cases where women allegedly misused their rights and used the laws (formulated to shield them against harassment and violence) as a weapon against men. Some famous cases include Zomato Delivery Case (Kamaraj-Hitesha Row), Jasleen Kaur-Sarabjeet Singh Controversy, Rohtak Sisters Case, Vishnu Tiwari Case, and there are many more.
Reportedly, almost 50-70% of rape allegations turn out to be false. The number of female rapists and perpetrators is increasing. Unfortunately, they mostly get away with some warning or minor punishment (very rare). We need to realise that crimes and victims are gender-neutral but our laws are becoming more gender-specific. Article 14 ( equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws) needs to be implemented in the true sense, otherwise, equality will always remain a myth.
