The Supreme Court on 10 February has sought a response from the Rajasthan Government while hearing a plea seeking probe into the death of around 100 infants at a hospital in Kota.

A bench comprising Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justices BR Gavai, and Surya Kant issued a notice to the state government on a plea filed by a doctor KK Aggarwal and social worker B Mishra who had sought a probe into the death of new-born babies due to lack of equipment at a government hospital by name J K Lon Hospital in Kota. The plea has further urged for an investigation under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge.

According to the sources, around 100 infants died in JK Lon Hospital within one month, triggering a debate in the state. The matter was even raised by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
