On 29 December, the UP-traffic police slapped a fine of Rs. 6,300 on the owner of a two-wheeler on which Congress leader – Priyanka Gandhi traveled without a helmet. As per sources, the two-wheeler was driven by Dheeraj Gurjar while Priyanka Gandhi sat behind him and both of them were seen not wearing a helmet.

The two were traveling to the residence of retired IPS officer S.R. Darapuri, in Lucknow while they were photographed without a helmet. According to the e-challan, the owner of the two-wheeler Rajdeep Singh has to pay the fine.

The Superintendent of Traffic Police, Poornendu Singh said that “Based on the photographs we got from social media, two persons were seen riding a two-wheeler without a helmet. Based on the details of the vehicle obtained from M-Parivahan (a mobile app containing details of vehicles), a challan was issued,”

Priyanka Gandhi later alleged that she was stopped and manhandled by police personnel when she resisted their attempt to stop her from visiting the residence of Darapuri, who was arrested in connection with anti-citizenship law protests in the state.
