Home » News » Six Arrested For Gang-Raping 50-Year Old Widow In Patna After Video Went Viral


In a shocking incident, a 50-year old widow was gang-raped in Patna and the incident was also recorded which later got viral on Friday. Six accused have been arrested so far and one of the accused is still absconding.

Police has initiated the probe in the two weeks old video after it went viral over the internet. The victim was identified hailing to the village under the Gaurichak area and her statement has been recorded.

Bihar State Women Commission has also taken cognizance of the incident and is seeking a detailed report from the police. Patna SSP Upendra Kumar Sharma has constituted a special investigation team to handle the matter.

The accused who have been arrested on Sunday are identified as Dina Kumar, Vikash Kumar, Roushan Kumar, Sunny Kumar, Pintu Kumar, and Mukesh Kumar. All the accused are from the Fayampur area of Gaurichak police station area. One accused is still evading arrest. All the accused are in their 20’s.

“Police came to know about the incident around 8 pm and arrested six from Deedarganj, Fatuha, Khagaul, and Fayampur. Police will put the case for speedy trial. The victim will have to identify the arrested youths in test identification parade (TIP),” said SSP Sharma.

Area’s SP Jitendra Kumar told that Dina Kumar is the main accused in the crime. “He was one who had raped the widow. Altogether seven people were present there. All of them will face charges,” said SP Kumar.

He further added, “All those who have recorded the video had deleted it later, but only Vikas kept it stored in his cellphone. Vikas forwarded the video to one of his friends who made it viral. The cellphone along with the video clip stored in it has been recovered from his possession.

50- year old survivor was on her way to Gaurichak from Patna. Two men riding bike, offered her lift. They took her to a secluded place near Punpun river where other accused were already present there and raped her.

The woman had not informed anyone (not even her family) about the incident in view of the social stigma that she has to face. The widow used to work as domestic help in Patna, Bihar.
