In a bizarre incident of Haryana’s Jind district, a thief who allegedly fled with 1,710 doses of Covid vaccine, changed his mind and returned them back with a note stating “Sorry, I didn’t know it was medicine for corona”. The note was attached to the bag of vaccines.

The thief has not been identified yet and police have been looking for him.

“We received a compliment in the morning from PPC center at Civil Hospital that 1,710 doses of vaccine were stolen from the center. We started an investigation into the case and collected some video evidence. However, at noon, an unknown man handed over the vaccines to an old man sitting on a tea stall outside the Civil Lines police station and said it was station Munshi’s lunch,” said DSP Jiytender Khatkar.

On Thursday, at around 12.30 pm, the thief came up with the bags full of Covishield and Covaxin doses outside the Civil Lines Police Station and handed over the bag to a tea stall owner. As per the police, he told the tea stall owner that it is station Munshi’s lunch in the bag.

India will start its third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive from May 1. Today also, the country recorded the highest ever spike of 3,32,730 Covid-19 cases and 2,263 deaths in the last 24 hours.
