In a horrific incident, a 38-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a court staffer inside one of the rooms of special CBI court in the Rouse Avenue Court Complex. Police received a complaint from the woman on Monday evening after which the accused was sent to judicial custody.

According to officials, the victim lost her job recently and was fighting a case in the labor court. She told the police that Rajendra Singh, who is a friend of her husband took her to the courtroom number 308 on the pretext of helping her in the case. When she entered the room, the accused forced himself upon her and allegedly raped her.

As per sources, the IP Estate Police confirmed that ‘Rajendra Singh Rawat, a Court orderly has been arrested on charges of rape and produced before the Court’. A case has been registered under IPC Section 376 (rape) and further probe in the matter is underway, said police. Subsequently, a medical examination of the woman was done.

The police further added that the woman, a resident of Old Delhi said she knew the accused for the past six months and alleged that the accused called her to meet him. “In her complaint, she alleged that he took her inside courtroom number 308 and sexually assaulted her. A PCR call was received at the IP Estate police station on Monday regarding the rape,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, Siddhartha Nanwal, Secretary, Rouse Avenue Bar Association, said, “The facts of the case are not yet clear. There will be a trial in this case, and the court will decide. If such an incident has happened, then we condemn it.”
