Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed all the proceedings that are pending before several High Courts of India on the petitions filed in connection to the regulation of the over-the-top (OTT) platforms.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted before the apex court bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud that despite the apex court’s earlier order issuing notice on the transfer petition filed by Centre to club all such pleas filed in various High Courts, Punjab and Haryana High Court is proceeding the matter there.
The bench noted that notice on transfer plea means that proceedings going on have to stay. “Then we will stay proceedings before all high courts and hear the matter in second week after the Holi break,” the bench said.
